Spicy Scones

I love the flavor cheddar cheese and jalapeno combination. This is usually the flavor choice when I choose a bagel. I definitely order the jalapeno poppers. And I couldn’t wait to match them together for a scone.

Blueberry and Lemon Scone

You can find your favorite scone recipe and throw in fresh (or frozen) blueberries.  Adding lemon zest gives it a kick of freshness that I think makes it.  If you want a cheese taste, mascarpone cheese might make a good addition.

Another quick option to fill your house with warm smells of baked goods during the holidays.

Chocolate Chip and Cherry Scone

With the holidays coming, everyone’s time will be tight.  The days leading up and after the actual celebration day are filled with family, meals, and chaos.  A scone is a quick breakfast which can be made the night before after everyone has gone to bed and thrown into the oven when the coffee is brewing.

If you aren’t a fan of cherries or don’t live in the northeast part of the country where they are a plenty, feel free to substitute cranberries.  I will warn you most people here in the pacific northwest assumed it was cranberries anyways.

TTW: Raspberry and White Chocolate Scone

Breakfast is one of those meals where it’s hard not to go with one of the regulars such as bagels, donuts, or cinnamon rolls.  Anything outside of that and you are likely to start a riot.  Tia was bold and went for an english classic.  While it’s true, if you add white chocolate and raspberries to anything, you’re making it a safer bet. But there is still a chance a scone won’t cut it.

After fielding tons of questions about “what is a scone?” the group gave it a favorable rating.  This biscuit like, handheld, breakfast treat had a nice crust on the outside and was soft in the middle.  Some scones have the tendency to be dry, but this stayed moist.  Almost like a well-baked muffin.  It didn’t require any of the traditional toppings such as butter or honey because it held up all on its own.

Scones are some of the easiest breakfast treats to whip up.  Go ahead.  Be brave.  Break the breakfast mold and try this delicious treat.  If you’re not sure where to start, here’s the recipe for this one: http://www.rockrecipes.blogspot.com/2012/02/raspberry-white-chocolate-scones.html  Then try your own variation.
